EURASIA CANTAT 2019

INTERNATIONAL CHORAL ASSAMBLIES

From the 3rd to 7th of May, 2019 the capital of the Urals invites you to take part in the 5th International choir competition.
We will be glad to greet amateur choirs from Europe and Asia in competition and festival programme. The competition performances and festival concerts will take place in the best halls of Ekaterinburg.

Recently Ekaterinburg was closed for foreigners. Nowadays Ekaterinburg which is the city of the last Russian tsar and the first Russian president is open for all people of the world.
The city is famous for the developed industry and cultural traditions. There are a plenty of theatres, museums, academies, concert halls, show-rooms, cultural and sport centers. Walking around the center of the city you can get in touch with the past and the present of Ekaterinburg. More over you can open Russia which absorbed features of unique Ural cultures. For example, you can see famous and unique Kasli cast iron pavilion.

 

We invite choirs of different categories, vocal ensembles from Ekaterinburg, other regions of Russia and abroad to take part in V Ekaterinburg international choral assemblies EURASIA CANTAT. 

Amateur, studying and professional choirs from different cultural and educational organizations could take part in EURASIA CANTAT.


All transport, accommodation and catering expenses during the competition and stay in Russia should be paid by the choir.


All choirs which will be participants of EURASIA CANTAT should stay in Ekaterinburg during the dates of the competition and take part in public concerts which will be organized within the competition.

 

The excurtional programme could be organized for extra payment.


Choirs accept all rules of International choral assemblies EURASIA CANTAT with their filled application forms.

Competition rules for categories: 

А1, В1

 One piece by a composer not from the country, language area or the cultural environment of the participating choir;

 Two pieces of the choir’s choice;

 The choir should perform a programme of different styles and genres.

 

 One piece in the programme must be a’cappella.

 

 Time limit: at least 8 minutes and up to 12 minutes.*

Competition rules for categories: 

D1, D2, D3

 

 One piece in unison a’cappella (a folk song);

 One piece composed till 1650;

 

 One piece composed from the 1600s till the 1850s;
 

 One piece composed by a composer from your own country;
 

 One piece of a composer of the second half of the 20th century – 21stcentury.

 

 The choir should perform a programme of different styles and genres.
 

 At least two pieces in the programme must be a’cappella.
 

 Time limit: 20 minutes.*

Competition rules for categories: 

F1, F2, H

 Competition programme 3-4 pieces.

 

 F1, F2 – the competition programme should include arrangements of the folk songs.

 H - sacred music of different confessions

 Time limit: 15 minutes.*
 


 

Competition rules for categories: 

А2, В2, С1, С2, E

 

 One piece in unison a’cappella (a folk song);

 One piece composed from the 1600s till the 1860s;

 One piece composed by a composer from your own country;
 

 One piece of a composer of the second half of the 20th century – the 21stcentury.

 The choir should perform a programme of different styles and genres.

 

 At least two pieces in the programme must be a’cappella.
 

 Time limit: 15 minutes.*

Competition rules for categories: 

E1, E2

 

 Competition programme 3 pieces

 

 The choir should perform a programme of different styles and genres (Russian and European classical music; music of composers of the 20th century; one piece of the choir’schoice).

 At least one piece in the programme must be a’cappella.

 

 Time limit: 12 minutes.*

Competition rules for category 

(choirs without experience, age is unlimited)

 Competition programme consists of 3 pieces.

 The choir should perform programme of different styles and genres (One piece a’cappella will be advisable).

 

 Time limit: 12 minutes.*

Festival programme

(choirs, ensembles)

 Pieces of secular, sacred or folk music.

 

 Time limit: 12 minutes.*

*The duration of the festival programme includes

The performance of the declared programme.

 

The entrance upon and leave the stage.

Pauses between pieces.

Important

 

Changes in the program are accepted not later than the 20th of March, 2019.

To change the order of the declared programme after the specified date is forbidden.

For violation of the rules and the working plan of the competition-festival EURASIA CANTAT points for a choir performance will be decreased.
 

The organizing committee has the full copyright for video, audio, photography, CD recordings, live performances, concerts of the festival on television, radio broadcasting and the internet.
